Martha Hildebrandt was a Peruvian linguist, grammarian, and lexicographer. She was born on April 29, 1925, in Lima, Peru, and passed away on February 4, 2018. She was known for her work in preserving and promoting the Quechua language, which is spoken by millions of people in the Andean region of South America. Her most famous contribution is the publication of a definitive Quechua-Spanish dictionary, which took her over 25 years to complete. She was a professor at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru and received numerous awards and honors throughout her career for her contributions to Peruvian culture and language.
